As you may know, the quarterback tradition runs deep in the Kiel family starting with Blair starring at Notre Dame and then in the NFL for seven years. In the next generation, Drew, Dusty, and Gunner followed their uncle by all playing QB at the Division 1 level and having great success. While they had success, they knew that they weren’t maxing out their potential as players. This was very frustrating to them and they planned to learn more about why they weren’t.

Upon graduation, Drew and Dusty went on to study to become Doctors of Physical Therapy at Tennessee State University. During this time, they were also training quarterbacks while studying to become certified strength and conditioning specialists. As knowledge was gained, they realized that there was a big gap between “private quarterback training” and rehab/strength and conditioning principles. By combining what they were learning, they have been able to produce many Division 1 players.

The QB docs now have a product that no other person in the world has, great experience at playing/coaching the position and an expertise in anatomy and biomechanics. They believe that it is crucial to empower players with the “why” behind the position and educate them on how to max out their ceiling as a quarterback. Years ago, The QB Docs figured out that what you fuel your body with is just as important as the training that you are doing. The ability to dose nutrients at proper times, consuming the calories needed to fuel the system, and choose the proper nutrients is essential in becoming the athlete that he/she wants to be.

They also learned that a lot of the training that they were doing in the weight room was hurting their ability to perform at a high level at the quarterback position. The way a quarterback trains in the weight room is going to be extremely different than every other position on the field because the movement demands are much different. Often times, quarterbacks will perform the same exercises as all other positions which will develop stiffness in the shoulder and the hip, which become problems for performance and injury risk. Just like the quarterback specific training, the resistance training in the weight room needs to be very specific to meet the demands of the hardest position in sports.
